Airbiquity Behind Ford SYNC
Seattle-based Airbiquity is powering the new Ford SYNC, Ford's in-car, hands free voice, music, and communications system, the firm said at CES this week. Airbiquity said that Ford is using its VIAaq managed data service and aqLink wireless data communications technology for Ford's services, which will include personalized traffic reports, navigation features, and traffic, news, and other information. Airbiquity's VIAaq service users wireless connections to connect auto information services to cars, via Bluetooth and a subscriber's cell phone connection. Airbiquity is venture backed by Ignition Partners, Acorn Ventures, Kirnaf LTD and Shell Internet Ventures.
