Gist Rolls Out Upgrades

Gist, the Vulcan Capital funded startup developing an email service to connects information about people to email messages, said today that it has rolled out a number of upgrades. According to an email from Gist founder T.A. McCann, the service--which is still in invite-only beta--adds better user provisioning, more frequent updates on news about your contacts, an improved news reader, ability to add details about contacts, and statistics gathering. The Gist tool pulls up key information about people from the Internet, including social networking profiles, news, and other information, within an email reader. In addition, McCann said that the service will soon add ability to work directly with Microsoft Outlook, iPhone compatibility, and calendar functionality. McCann said the firm now has over 3,000 people signed up for its beta.
