Mentor Graphics Buys Flomerics

Wilsonville, Oregon-based Mentor Graphics said Thursday morning that it has acquired Flomerics Group PLC, a supplier of software for computational fluid dynamics analysis. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Mentor said that Flomerics will become part of the firm's Mechanical Analysis Division, which will be headed by former Flomerics CEO Gary Carter. According to the firm, the acquisition complements the firm's printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing and advanced electronic cooling thermal analysis capabilities. Flomerics makes software used by designers for complex fluid flow analysis, used to design pumps, valves, aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, heating and refrigeration systems, and consumer appliances. Flomerics is based in the UK.
