Microsoft Spins Off Bungie

Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft said Friday that it is spinning off Bungie Studios, the games unit of the company which developed the popular Halo game. Microsoft said that it will retain an equity interest in Bungie, and that it will continue its publishing agreement with Bungie for Halo and future properties. Bungie just released its Halo 3 Xbox 360 game at the end of September, and so far has garnered $300M in sales, the firm reported. Bungie will remain in its Kirkland location.
