Microvision, Motorola to Develop Mobile Projectors
Microvision, a manufacturer of miniature, laser-based projectors called pico projectors, reported Tuesday that it has agreed with electronics stalwart Motorola to co-develop pico projectors for mobile devices. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but Microvision said the partnership will incorporate Microvision's proprietary display engine, PicoP. Microvision explained that pico projectors should grant mobile devices the ability to offer "big screen" viewing experiences. Microvision also said it and Motorola will initially integrate one of Microvision's PicoP projectors inside a functioning mobile device for demonstration purposes. The prototype, Microvision added, will utilize the company's 854x480 WVGA wide-angle scanner. Microvision is headquartered in Redmond, Wash.
