Report: SplashCast Seeks Buyer
Portland-based SplashCast, which was a provider of streaming media and content management services, is reportedly looking for a buyer. According to technology blog TechCrunch, quoting CEO Michael Berkley, the move comes because the firm failed to raised a Series B round. The move comes several months after the firm abandoned its original, freemium business model and shut its services to Internet users, and said it would instead provide its technology to premium content providers. SplashCast said in January that it was shutting down its free services in February and would instead focus on content providers who are using the firm to distribute content within social networks.
