MerchantOS Acquired By Lightspeed
Seattle-based MerchantOS, a developer of web-based point of sale software, has merged with LightSpeed Retail, the two companies said today. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. According to the companies, MerchantOS will become LightSpeed Cloud, and will continue to offer up its product to its customers. MerchantOS was originally developed for bicycles shops, and was created by Ivan Stanojevic when he was a college student in 2002, originally as a project running on Microsoft Access. That software became MerchantOS in 2004, when he connected with co-founder Justin Laing.
