Gates, Bezos-backed Blood Testing Firm Nears $1 Billion Funding
GRAIL, a startup that is backed by both Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos, and which is developing blood testing technology for early stage cancer detection, is expecting to close a $1 billion, Series B funding, according to its founding investor. Illumina, which spun out Grail from its own operations, did not disclose who is behind the new, monster funding for Silicon Valley-based Grail. Grail had raised $100 million in Series A financing in 2016, from Illumina, ARCH Venture Partners, Bezos Expeditions, Bill Gates, Sutter Hill Ventures, and GV (formerly Google Ventures).
