Elemental Technologies Gets Strategic Funding, New Board Member

Portland-based Elemental Technologies, a provider of massively parallel video processing products based on graphical processing unit (GPU) cores, said today that it has scored new funding from stratic investor Citrix Systems. The firm also said it has appointed Level 3 co-founder Kevin O'Hara to its board of directors. Amounto f the new funding was not disclosed. Elemental is headed by Sam Blackman, and develops equipment which uses off-the-shelf, graphical processing units (GPU) to provide massively parallel computing to provide video processing, transcoding, and conversion.
