Amazon Buys Speech Recognition Firm
Seattle-based Amazon.com has acquired a developer of speech recognition technology, Yap, according to reports today. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. The acquisition was first uncovered by The Atlantic, which discovered the acquisition from some sleuthing. According to the report, the buy was through Dion Acquisition Sub, which has its address as Amazon's headquarters, but does not mention Amazon.com by name.
