Supermicro: Absolutely No Malicious Hardware On Our Motherboards

Supermicro, the computer motherboard manufacturer which was pinpointed in an Bloomberg article in October, says a third party audit has found "no malicious hardware" in its current or older-model motherboards. Supermicro said that that report "wrongly alleged that bad actors had inserted a malicious chip or other hardware" on its products, but that a leading, third-party investigations firm found "absolutely no evidence of malicious hardware" on its motherboards. The Bloomberg report had alleged that the Chinese government had inserted that hardware on Supermicro's motherboards, specifically to gain access to products by Elemental which are used by the U.S. Department of Defense. Amazon--which now owns Elemental--also had denied finding any malicious hardware in its products. Bloomberg's report had alleged the malicious hardware had been uncovered during Amazon's due diligence when acquiring Elemental.
