Stratolaunch Shows Off Launch Vehicle Designs
Seattle-based Stratolaunch, the space launch startup founded by Paul G. Allen, showed off its design for a family of new launch vehicles on Monday. According to Stratolaunch, the new launch vehicles will include three different launch vehicles: its Pegasas launch vehicle--expected to have its first flight in 2020 and carry 370 kg of payload; a "Medium Launch Vehicle" aimed at first flight in 2022, with a payload of 3,400 kg; a Medium Launch Vehicle - Heavy, with 6,000 kg payload; and a "Space Plane". The company did not say how far along it was in those designs, but did show of a fancy rendering of those vehicles in its release.
