Microsoft Buys Avere Systems

Microsoft has acquired flash-based storage developer Avere Systems, Avere announced this morning. Avere, based in Pittsburgh, develops flash-based, cloud-based storage technology used by enterprises in both private and public cloud environments. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. Avere's software provided cloud-based network attached storage (NAS) products combined solid state disk with cloud storage features.
