Amazon Launches New Alexa Startup Accelerator In Seattle
Amazon.com is launching a new, startup accelerator in Seattle--based out of the University of Washington--focused entirely on startups working on leveraging the company's Alexa voice technology. The new startup, which will be run by startup accelerator operator Techstars, will focus on early stage companies advancing the state-of-the-art in voice-powered technologies, interfaces and applications, with a focus on Alexa domains such as connected home, wearables and "hearables", enterprise, communication devices, connected car and health and wellness. The accelerator will be housed at the University of Washington's Startup Hall, with applications opening in January of 2017, and the program starting in July.
