Bezos-backed Vessel Acquired By Verizon
Vessel, the subscription video streaming service led by former Hulu CEO Jason Kilar and CTO Richard Tom, and backed by Bezos Expeditions, the venture investment firm owned by Jeff Bezos, has been sold to Verizon, the two companies announced on Wednesday. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, however, Vessel said it would be shutting down its service as a result of the acquisition. Vessel had raised more than $130M in funding from such investors as Benchmark Capital, Greylock Partners, and Bezos Expeditions.
