Amazon Ties With The UK On Drone Delivery Research
Amazon and the UK Government said late Monday that the two are in a partnership, which will allow Amazon to trial the use of drones for delivery of packages in the country. According to Amazon, its is working with a team from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), which will allow it to explore beyond line-of-sight operations in rural and suburban areas, testing of sensors to make sure drones can avoid obstacles, and the use of one person to operate multiple, automated drones. Amazon has been looking to further advance its drone delivery efforts, but has faced strong regulatory headwinds in the U.S.
