Spaceflight Gets First Customer For Dedicated SpaceX Launch
Seattle-based Spaceflight Industries has signed up the first customer for its first dedicated, SpaceX Falcon 9 launch--an Israeli company working on delivering the first payload to the moon. According to SpaceIL, one of the teams competing for the Google Lunar XPRIZE, it has booked a ticket on the Spaceflight Falcon 9 mission scheduled for the second half of 2017. Financial details of the deal wre not disclosed. Spaceflight recently announced it has purchased its own SpaceX Falcon for that mission, to help free its customers from the often lengthy delays or restrictions they had run into when piggybacking on other, satellite missions. SpaceIL says its craft will be launched from the Spaceflight mission with other payloads, and then make its way to the lunar surface.
