Itron Takes On Solar Energy Monitoring

Libery Lake, Washington-based smart utility meter maker Itron is making an expansion into the services area, with a new, solar power monitoring service it calls Itron Total Solar. Itron said it will offer up production measurement, asset monitoring, sensing applications and forecasting as a managed service for solar assets. Itron is leveraging its own solar meter and measurement technology to power the service, which it says connects solar PV production data via a 4G LTE cellular network. Pricing on the new managed service was not announced.
