Google's Calendar Feature Loss Is CompanionLink's Gain

A move by Google to eliminate the ability to synchronize its online calendar with the popular, Microsoft Exchange corporate email server is giving an opportunity to Portland-based CompanionLink--if only, users are willing to pay for what had been a free Google feature. Google said earlier this year that it is ending support for Google Sync, a handy utility which let corporate users synchronize their calendar and contacts with Microsoft Exchange. Exchange--which has a huge installed base of enterprises--has for years been considered the defacto standard for company email. CompanionLink said today that it will provide volume pricing on its tool--which has been available since 2006--to help organizations make the transition. CompanionLink explained the discounts since making the jump from a free utility to a paid one is "never pleasant".
