Rhapsody International: Rhapsody, Napster Hit Two Million Paying Subscribers
Seattle-based Rhapsody International, the parent company of Rhapsody and Napster, reported this morning that the company has hit two million paying premium subscribers across the two services. The company said the subscriber mark is a "milestone" for the company and its music subscription model. Competitor Spotify recently hit 10 million subscribers for its own competing music streaming service. In addition to the subscriber numbers, Rhapsody said it has partnered with two, European telecommunications companies--SFR and Telefonica--to help extend Napster to mobile customers at those companies.
