Bing Aims At Software Developers With New Code Search Tool
Bing.com, the online search engine which is part of Microsoft, has extended its brand back into the world of Microsoft Visual Studio, with the launch of a new extension for Microsoft's software development IDE called Bing Code Search. According to Bing, the new extension helps developers find relevant code samples within Visual Studio, pulling code from such sites as MSDN, StackOverflow, Donnetperls and CSharp411. Developers often use found code samples to help further develop their code. The move is an unusual one for Bing, which has been sharply focused on the consumer world for the last few years. Bing competitor Google made its own foray into code search tools back in 2006 with its own software, Google Code Search, which it shut down back in 2012.
