TriQuint Ships New Components For Smartphone Market
Hillsboro, Oregon-based RF semiconductor maker TriQuint Semiconductor said this week that it is shipping several new products aimed at the LTE smartphone market. The company said it has launched new multi-band, power amplifier modules (MMPAs), which are used in smartphones but help provide longer battery life through a technique called "envelope tracking". Those devices are used within mobile phones to amplify wireless signals, but dynamically adjust the amount of power they use to help extend battery life on those phones. TriQuint's devices are incorporated into smartphone designs by hardware manufacturers.
