Tripwire Buys nCircle

Portland-based security software provider Tripwire announced this morning that it has acquired nCircle, a Silicon Valley-based developer of IT risk management software. Financial terms of th ebuy were not disclosed. According to Tripwire, the acquisition will create a $140M company in the risk and security market. nCircle was backed by Alta Partners, JK&B Capital, Menlo Ventures, Guide Ventures, and others, and was founded in 1998. Tripwire is owned by private equity firm Thoma Bravo.
