Celly Gets $1.4M For Mobile, Social Networking Tool

Portland-based mobile, social networking tool developer Celly announced this morning that it has raised $1.4M in a funding round, to power its service for allowing groups to create their own, mobile social networks focused on families, schools, and communities. The firm said the funding was led by Oregon Angel Fund, and also included Upstart Labs, Portland Seed Fund, and individuals.

Celly's service allows users to create their own, mobile social networks around different groups, including coworkers, families, teammates, and others. The firm provides group messaging and texting tools, polling, scheduled reminders, and other features aimed at organizing small, real-life social networks that it calls "cells".

Celly is led by CEO Russell Okamoto.
