Amazon Greenlights Production On Children's Shows
In its continuing move to bolster the amount of content available on its Prime Instant Video service--and make it harder for parents to use their Amazon Kindle Fires--Amazon Studios said Thursday that it has greenlighted the production of five pilots of children's shows. Amazon Studios said that the five shows will be developing pilots, which will be posted on Amazon Instant Video, Prime Instant Video, Lovefilm UK and Lovefilm Germany, where viewer response and feedback will determine if those shows will be produced.
Amazon said the five shows include Creative Galaxy, created by Angela Santomero (Super Why!, Blue's Clues); Oz Adventures; Teeny Tiny Dogs, produced by The Jim Henson Company; Tumbleaf, created by Drew Hodges and Kelli Bixler; and an untitled, J.J. Johnson project, created by J.J. Johnson (Dino Dan, This Is Emily Yeung). The five shows come on top of six comedy pilots that Amazon approved for production late last year.
Amazon has been ramping up its content development efforts in the past few years, working to receive scripts and engage with Hollywood, all in a quest to develop exclusive content for Amazon Prime Instant Video.
