PopCap Games Launches Charity Drive
Seattle-based PopCap Games, the casual videogames maker now owned by EA, said this morning that it is launching an online pledge drive for nonprofit, charity:water. PopCap said it will attempt a Guinness World Record for the longest marathon playing of a card game via videogame, using its social game, Solitaire Blitz. PopCap said it has selected two of its avid players--Kathleen Henkel and Laura Rich--to play the game for 30 consecutive hours each, in an attempt to establish a new world record. PopCap will support charity:water with online pledge mechanism where fans can contribute to the charity, based on how long those two play the game for the record. charity:water supports efforts to bring clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.
