OptiTrack Rolls Motion Capture Camera

Corvallis-based OptiTrack, a developer of motion capture cameras for the game development and film industries, said Monday that it has shipped a new product. The firm said it has launched the Flex 13, a megapixel motion capture camera with 1.3 million pixels of resolution, 120 FPS sample rate, and 56 degree field of view. The firm's hardware is used by animators, filmmakers, and others to capture the performance of actors into computer-readable form, which can then drive video game sequences, film animation, and other computer software. OptiTrack is a division of NaturalPoint, which develops motion capture technology for a variety of customers. The firm said the new product will ship in April, and will cost $999.
