How much should you trust reviews on Amazon.com? A report today from the New York Times delves into the issue of fake product reviews on Amazon.com, about how some product makers have tried to game the system. In the article, the story of VIP Deals and its offer to refund the purchase price of its products--and how that resulted in 310 out of 335 reviews of its Kindle case getting a five star review, although Amazon later removed the firm's product from its store.
