ESI Wins $24M In Patent Suit

Portland-based Electro Scientific Industries, which develops manufacturing hardware for the semiconductor industry, has scored a $24M win against a Taiwanese equipment manufacturer, the firm said today. ESI said it won $24M (NT $700,000,000) from the Kaohsiung District Court of Taiwan in the patent dispute with All Ring Tech, Ltd., over a patent dispute. ESI said the court found that All Ring has infringed on its patent, and must pay ESI $24M plus interest accrued from November 4, 2005. All ring still has an opportunity to file an appeal in the case.
