Bing Tightens Facebook Ties
Redmond-based search engine Bing has tightened up its ties to Facebook, saying Monday that it has enhanced the personalized search results its provides with additional information from Facebook. According to Bing, it is now using the "Like" information from Facebook to better return search results to users. The further integration uses social clues to rank search results. Bing said that it is aiming to tap into the "friend effect"--the trust that users have for advice and opinions from family and friends--to better refine search results. The new features are available for users who sign into Facebook and give Bing permission to tap into their social graph.
