Amazon Loses Data In EC2 Outage
Amazon has apparently lost what it calls a "small number of volumes", 0.07 percent of the volumes in its US-East Region, as a result of the extended downtime at Amazon EC2 over the weekend. According to status updates from Amazon, those volumes "will not be fully recoverable" an that it is in the process of contacting customers affected by those issues. Amazon has yet to provide full details on what caused the three day outage of EC2, its cloud computing service, which affected hundreds of web sites using its services.
