Report: Gist In Talks To Sell to RIM
Seattle-based Gist, the provider of contact information software headed by T.A. McCann, is apparently in talks to sell the firm to RIM, according to a report today from technology blog GigaOm. No details on the acquisition effort have been released by either firm. RIM is the maker of the BlackBerry smart phones. Gist is venture backed by The Foundry Group and Vulcan Capital, and initially incubated by McCann out of Vulcan. Gist's software, which works with Microsoft Outlook and Google Gmail, pulls up information on contacts you are emailing from the web, social networking sites, and other sources.
