Classmates Posts Yearbooks, Targets Nostalgia
Seattle-based Classmates Online said this morning that it has launched a yearbook initiative, where it is posting the contents of more than 30,000 high school yearbooks on its site. According to Classmates, the move is part of a strategy to transform the site from a social networking company to a "nostalgia content" center, including addition of vintage magazines, music, photographic images, album covers, movie trailers, and movie posters. The company explained that it hopes to have more than 70,000 yearbooks posted by the end of the year. Classmates is a subsidiary of United Online.
