Google Tallies Up Local Economic Impact
Search engine giant Google is hailing its economic impact on the U.S. this week, with a state-by-state study of what it says is the impact of its search and advertising operations to local economies. According to Google, it had $54 billion in economic impact nationally, including $2.8 billion in Washington State and $512M in Oregon. The firm said 29,000 Oregon businesses and 45,000 Washington State businesses benefited from its advertising services. Google also highlighted its 600 full time employees working in search and advertising between its Kirkland and Seattle locations.
