Dow Jones: Venture Investments Drop To $5.1B In Q3
Venture Capital deals dropped to $5.1 billion in 616 deals, according to a report released by Dow Jones VentureSource over the weekend. According to Dow Jones, the results point to the worst investment year since 2003. The quarterly totals were down 38 percent year to year, compared to $8.2 billion and 663 deals reported in Q3. Dow Jones did not break down full totals for the region, however, the firm said that investments in Washington state dropped 47%, to $148M in 18 deals. One of the few bright spots in the report were Web 2.0 investments, which drove investments in information services to $627M in 86 deals, up 11 percent from Q3 of last year.
