Albany, Oregon-based EnerG2, Coburg, Oregon-based Cascade Sierra Solutions, and Lebanon, Oregon-based Entek International, specifically its electric battery collabration project with Johnson Controls, are three of the beneficiaries of $2.4B in stimulus funds from the Department of Energy. The DOE announced the winners of its Recovery Act Awards for Electric Drive Vehicle Battery and Component Manufacturing Initiative, saying that Johnson Controls will get $299.2M in stimulus funds for its production of nickel-cobalt-metal battery cells for use in hybrid and electric vehicles, and for battery separators which are produced by Oregon's Entek. EnerG2 is receiving $21M for its work producing high density nano-carbon for ultracapacitors. EnerG2 is backed by OVP Venture Partners and Firelake Capital, and is a spinout of the University of Washington. Cascade Sierra Solutions is receiving $22.2M for deployment of truck stop electrification projects along major US interstates, and related efforts to help provide rebates to trucks which adopt its idle reduction technologies.
