Strands Shuts Music Service
Corvallis, Oregon-based Strands, which develops social recommendation software, said Thursday afternoon that it has discontinued its MyStrands Music Service. Reason for the shutdown was not given, but the firm said it will continue to offer its online training and social networking site, Strands; its finance site, moneyStrands; and Strands Recommender, its white label social recommendation and personalization technology for third party web sites. The move comes as the firm has increasingly been focused on finance and bank deals with moneyStrands and other properties. MyStrands Music was one of the firm's original offerings, and provided music recommendations to Internet users. Strands, formerly known as MyStrands, is backed by BBVA, Debaeque, Grupo Zeta, and Sequel Venture Partners.
