iovation Releases Usage Numbers

Portland-based iovation, which develops technology to help ferret our fraud or abuse on the Internet, said today that the firm has provided over two billion "reputation checks" through its service. The firm's service uses device signatures of Internet users to detect the possibility of fraud or abuse for ecommerce and other web sites. Iovation said it now has the profile of 140 million unique devices on the Internet, which it uses to gauge the likelihood of online fraud from a user using that device. The firm markets its service to help reduce credit card charge backs and fraud.
