Sampa Shuts Down

Redmond-based Sampa, the online startup headed by Marcello Calbucci, has shut down, according to founder Calbucci in a blog post this weekend. Sampa had raised around $1M in angel funding, and provided a way for users to share pictures, stories, videos, and information on the web. Calbucci said the startup "failed to achieve the traction necessary" to have enough revenue to grow, or to raise a second round of funding. Calbucci explained that the firm will be shutting down its server in August, and liquidating the company.
