Amazon, CreateSpace Offering Out-of-Print Music
Amazon.com subsidiary CreateSpace revealed Wednesday that it is collaborating with several prominent record labels to offer out-of-print music and albums at Amazon.com. CreateSpace explained that its Disc on Demand technology is powering Amazon's Back from the Vault program, which features more than 1,000 vintage tracks from notable bands and artists such as Herbie Hancock, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Wyclef Jean and Alabama. More than 20 record labels are involved, including EMI Music, Sony Music, Warner Music Group and many independent labels. CreateSpace was acquired by Seattle-based Amazon in 2005 and is now a business of On-Demand Publishing LLC, an Amazon subsidiary.
