PopCap Sees Retail Bump In 2008
Seattle-based PopCap Games said today that it saw a bump in retail sales of its PC titles, nearly doubling sales in the last calendar year. PopCap said that its revenues grew 85.3% in 2008, while overall revenues for sale of PC video games by retail outlets dropped 14%. Citing numbers by NPD, PopCap said the retail sales growth was driven in part by the firm's much heralded Bejeweled Twist. The NPD numbers put Bejeweled Twist at number 8 among the best selling PC games during the December holidays. Popcap explained that the "most significant growth" for the firm game in Q4 alonside that launch.
