Amazon Extends EC2 To Europe
Seattle-based Amazon.com is extending its EC2 web services to Europe, the firm said late last night. According to Amazon Web Services LLC, the web services arm of Amazon.com, it now allows developers in Europe to operate Amazon EC2 instances in multiple zones in the EU. The firm said its new European Region will provide lower latency and closer operations for companies running services in the EU, in particular shortening the time required to boot and obtain a new virtual server instance. The services currently include Amazon's Linux-based servers; the firm said it will be adding the firm's new Windows Server and SQL Server support in the "near future."
