Amazon Rolls Deal Alerts, Pushes Holiday Shopping

Seattle-based Amazon.com is looking to stimulate holiday shopping, saying today that it has rolled out a new daily deal text alert, which will send the firm's "Deal of the Day" to mobile phones. According to Amazon, the new feature allows users to send text messages to buy the firm's featured "Gold Box" deals. Gold Box is a daily special pricing offer on products on Amazon's web sites. Amazon also said it has added holiday shopping guides, expanded its "wish list" feature to allow users to include products from non-Amazon sites, and added a celebrity chef blog from such chefs as Rocco DiSpirito, Nigella Lawson, and Ellie Krieger.
