RealNetworks Launches DVD Ripping Service
Seattle-based RealNetworks has lauched new software to help consumers copy DVDs to their hard drive, called RealDVD, the firm said this morning. The firm said the new software, which is being launched at the DEMOFall conference, will allow consumers to easily save their DVDs to their hard drive, so they can watch them later. The software allows users to play the content on up to five machines licensed to an individual user, and will preserve CSS encryption of the DVDs. The new RealDVD software will be available for purchase at $49.99 with a discounted initial offer of $29.99; the firm said additional licenses, required for additional PCs, will cost $19.99.
