Microsoft Unveils Revamped Live Search Engine
Computing heavyweight Microsoft Corp. announced today that it has given its online search engine an overhaul. Microsoft explained that the improvements to its service, called Live Search and located at www.live.com, have centered on advancements to its core search technology and in the entertainment, shopping, local and health vertical search topics. Microsoft said the upgrade was inspired by feedback from its Live Search customers. The improvements include: a fourfold increase in index size, better understanding of query intent, enhancements to core algorithms, added focus on query refinement, a new Web data extraction model, and more rich answers.
