Isilon Announces New Storage Systems
Seattle-based clustered storage provider Isilon has released new versions of the firm's products, saying earlier this week that its new IQ 9000 and EX 900 products now provide up to 1.6 petabytes of storage capacity, up from 864TB of its earlier generation. The firm said its new systems are already being deployed by Comcast Entertainment Group, DailyMotion, KodakGallery and Photobox, among others. Isilon's clustered storage products are used by companies to store data, and are used as an alternative to expensive, enterprise storage arrays. Isilon also released a version of its OneFS operating system in conjunction with the new products. Both systems fit into a 2U rackmount profile and are based on Seagate 750 GB SATA-II disk drives; the new systems fit into the top of the firm's enterprise storage line.
