Visionary Venture Fund Raises Funding For Opthalmic Investment Fund
Aliso Viejo-based Visionary Venture Fund, a new venture capital firm specifically focused on only investing in ophthalmology companies, has closed its first round of funding for a targeted $30M venture fund, the company announced on Tuesday. The company said it expects to invest up to $30M in approximately a dozen companies over the next 18 months, investing between $500K to $5M in each company. The company said it has already invested in IanTech (cataract treatment); Mynosys (capsulotomy); SighLife Surgical (eye bank and corneal tissue); and RxSight (intraocular lens product). Visionary Venture Fund is partnered with technology and life sciences accelerator OCTANe. Jeffry Weinhuff is Managing Partner of the new fund.
