Vertiflex Finds $40M For Spinal Implants

Carlsbad-based spinal implant developer Vertiflex announced this morning that it has raised $40M in a new funding round, led by Endeavour Vision and H.I.G. BioHealth Partners, and also including New Enterprise Associates; Thomas, McNerney & Partners; and Alta Partners. The company, which is developing minimally invasive devices used for treating spinal stenosis, said the funding will go towards commercial expansion of its systems. Vertiflex is led by Earl Fender, who is President and CEO of the company. The company currently has Premarket Approval (PMA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
