ObEN Raises $5M From Tencent

Pasadena-based ObEN, the developer of artificial intelligence software led by Nikhil Jain, said this morning that it has raised $5M in a strategic funding round, led by Tencent Holding. According to ObEN, the funding also included Li Ruigang, Chairman of CMC and Fengshion Capital. ObEN said it has now raised a total of $13.7M in funding for its efforts to create "personal AI" software. ObEN's software allows users to create a virtual avatar that looks, sounds, and behaves much like the user, using computer vision, natural language processing, and other technology. ObEN said it will use the new funding to accelerate product development and grow its platform. ObeN's other investors included Idealab, Softbank Ventures Korea, and HTC Vive X. More information »
